(WRCB) - Good Monday. After some patchy, dense fog this morning, more showers and thunderstorms will be on tap for this afternoon.
We have the same basic pattern in place that was here this weekend. We have lots of humid air at the surface, combining with a stationary front hanging over us and daytime heating to produce more widespread showers and thunderstorms this afternoon into this evening. The biggest threat will be from heavy rain and abundant lightning. Up to an inch of rain is possible today.
Tuesday through the rest of the week, we will see that front drifting south of the area. That will take away much of the energy that has been helping build the storms. It will also allow slightly cooler and drier air to settle into the Tennessee Valley. Highs Wednesday through Friday will be in the mid 80s with the rain chance each day down to about 30%.
Right now, it looks like we will see similar weather this weekend.
