Good Thursday. More heavy rain is expected again later today.
A FLOOD WATCH is in effect for North Georgia counties through tonight. Most of North Georgia took on 3" to 8" of rain yesterday, with the heaviest rain being felt in Gilmer County where roads were washed away and numerous reports of flash flooding were reported.
With he ground still saturated, it won't take much heavy rain in a short period of time to produce more flooding today.
The basic set up for our weather is a warm, humid air mass that is sitting on top of us compliments of light south winds transporting the air in from the gulf.
We will see periodic weather disturbances tapping into the moisture to produce daily showers and thunderstorms mainly in the afternoon. One or two isolated storms in the morning are possible as well.
This will be the case through most of next week, with highs staying in the mid to upper 80s.
The main threats each day will be from heavy rain and abundant lightning.
