Jackson and Danforth are accused of entering Kennedy Jewelry on East Main Street Monday evening armed with a gun.

One of the Kennedys says the men  fired what he said was an assault rifle. He said the man with the gun was wearing a "Scream" mask. The other, he said, was carrying a laundry basket and a crow-bar type weapon wrapped in a pillow case.

Kennedy said he grabbed his 9 mm gun and shot back at the would-be robbers, hitting at least six holes through his store's windows. Kennedy said at one point in the gun fight, he was hit by pieces of flying metal from the window bars. Police said he was treated for a minor stomach injury and released.
