Troy Maney named new fire chief in Bradley County

BRADLEY COUNTY, TN (Times Free Press) -

Bradley County Mayor Gary Davis has named a new fire chief to fill the position vacated when former chief Dewey Woody resigned last October to accept a position with the State Fire Marshall's Office.

Davis has named fire department veteran Troy Maney to the chief's position, according to a news release. Maney served many years as deputy chief and has more than 30 years management experience, including personnel, payroll and accounting, according to the release. He also reportedly assisted with the merger of the Bradley County/Charleston Fire Departments.

Maney is taking over a newly expanded fire and rescue department which recently built three new fire halls and added 60 additional firefighters.

Davis praised interim chief Troy Spence who guided the department's growth over the past 8 months, while also serving as the County's EMA Director.
