CLEVELAND, TN (WRCB) -

Cleveland Police are investigating after a body was found Monday at the Carroll Court Apartments.

Police say the body of a white male in his early 20's was found in a car parked in the Carroll Court Apartment, Lee University Married Student Housing on Cherry Street.

Officials say the man was identified as Johnathan E. Messer of Cleveland.

Messer was a junior psychology major at Lee University and a 2010 graduate of Bradley Central.

The body has been transported to Knoxville, Tennessee, for an autopsy to determine cause of death and the investigation is on-going.

"That's why the autopsy is so important, because it will tell us exactly what happened. Other people have called and said, "Well, what happened? Do you think it's suicide? ....Well, we don't know. Is it homicide? It could be. You just don't know," says Officer Evie West.
