Robber, victim exchange gunfire during attempted robbery

CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) -

Chattanooga Police responded to an attempted robbery on Main Street Monday evening.

Police say they responded to a shots fired at the jewelry store around 5:30 p.m. Monday.

Officers say the offender tried to rob the store at gunpoint. The robber fired shots at the victim and the victim fired shots at the robber.

The robber fled on foot towards Mulberry Avenue.

The victim received a minor injury to the stomach.

A possible suspect was located a block away hiding in a yard. Officers also found a rifle.
The investigation is ongoing and more information will be released when available.
