Titans Notes: LB McCarthy will miss week with hamstring
Titans LB McCarthy will miss week with hamstring
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Colin McCarthy will miss at least a week after hurting his right hamstring, and coach Mike Munchak says the middle linebacker will not play in Tennessee's preseason opener Thursday against Washington.
McCarthy practiced with the first-team defense Wednesday for the first time this year, but he was out Thursday and had an MRI exam.
Munchak said Friday that it's frustrating for McCarthy and the Titans and whether the linebacker is out longer than week remains to be seen.
McCarthy says he thinks the injury resulted from the ankle he had surgery on earlier this offseason. A defensive captain a year ago, McCarthy was limited to only seven games in 2012 by a concussion and injured ankle.
Center Fernando Velasco left practice with an allergic reaction to something he ate.
Titans' Britt feels healthy like it's 2011 again
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Kenny Britt feels like it's 2011 all over again, and the Tennessee receiver is leaping for catches and looking like the player who dominated defenders catching lots of balls that season.
Unfortunately, Britt tore his right ACL and MCL in the third game of 2011, ending his season after catching 17 passes for 289 yards and three touchdowns. That led to three knee surgeries over the next nine months, and he played 14 games last season despite having to ice his aching and swollen knees.
He spent the offseason building back his legs and finally got his confidence back that his knees were strong again playing basketball.
Now Britt says he feels like he's back to his old self. He needs to be in the final year of his contract.
