Convicted sex offender arrested on child sex allegations
A North Carolina man was arrested on child sex charges.
Mikal Mitchell of Sylva was arrested after deputies received allegations he had performed sex acts with children who were in his care.
Cherokee County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigations Division conducted the investigation.
According to North Carolina records Mitchell is a registered sex offender who was residing in Jackson County North Carolina at the time of his arrest. Court records indicate that Mitchell was convicted of engaging in a sex offense with a child in 2003.
Mitchell was placed on a $200,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court in August.
