Alstom to cut dozens more jobs

For the second time this year one Chattanooga company has announced they are laying off workers.

Alstom's Boiler Services Facility is laying off 40 hourly labor workers.

That amounts to about 10 percent of its workforce, but will not impact the turbine manufacturing site.

Company leaders say the cuts are due to current market conditions and to make operations as lean as possible.

The reduction is the second for Alstom in Chattanooga this year. Back in March, the company cut 80 jobs at it's turbo-machinery plant. That move slashed the turbine engineering manufacturing plant's workforce by half.

Their media relations manager says the company is taking steps to support the affected employees and make sure they are treated fairly.
