S. Pittsburg community raises funds to replace school supplies
SOUTH PITTSBURG, TN (WRCB) -
Flood-ravaged South Pittsburg is still in the recovery process.
Saturday and Sunday, the community came together to bring some relief to teachers and students.
A fundraiser was held at Walmart where people could drop off supplies or donations for South Pittsburg Elementary.
The school sustained heavy flood damage in the gym. Last week the floor was torn apart and several items were emptied from classrooms. One teacher says all the money is to help those affected.
"Replace items that were totally ruined and to also help families that lost everything. They should not have to worry about school supplies. They have had to move and go to different homes," says Sheree Fagan.
So far Fagan has raised about thirteen hundred dollars.
