Faculty, students spruce up new STEM School

CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) -

One of Hamilton County's newest schools is getting ready for the school year ahead.

Teachers, parents, and students gathered at the Chattanooga STEM school this afternoon for a "spruce-up" day.

Students helped clean up, organize, and hang works of art in preparation for the fall.

Principal Tony Donen says it's a good time for rising ninth graders to get a look at their school and mingle with returning students.

"I can tell you, 'hey we need to get a long, we need to get together, we need to know each other,' but when you have a chance to experience and do something with other people that makes a common bond and creates those memories."

The STEM school, which opened last fall, is located on Chattanooga State's campus, and focuses on science, technology, engineering, the arts, science, math, and medicine.
