Murphy man arrested on child sex charges

MURPHY, NC (WRCB) -

A Murphy man was arrested and accused of trying to have sexual relations with a child according to Cherokee County deputies.

Officials say Harold Laney of Murphy was arrested for taking indecent liberties with a child.

Investigators say Laney was accused of trying to engage in sex acts with a child who was in his care.

Laney was booked on a $20,000 bond.

Based upon the age of the victim and the sensitive nature of the case, the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office will not be releasing any additional information concerning this incident at this time.
