Workers hammered rows of wooden beams to fix a bridge in South Pittsburg Tuesday.
Kristopher Frame is one of the unlucky residents that lives on one side of the bridge and has to walk through the dry creek bed just to get to the other side.
He says after a few days his family members set up a relay system to get them across.
"We have had enough family members with extra cars so we would park on the other side of the creek if we needed to drive down. That's all we have been able to do."
Concern grew after a couple days because no emergency vehicles could get to the other side in time.
Marion County crews worked from early morning through sweltering heat to get the bridge back in shape.
They put sturdier support beams underneath to hold up against strong current.
The county says there wasn't much they could do to save the previous bridge but this one should take the burden off the stranded families.
The city is still in need of supplies and volunteers. If you would like to help call 423-486-2151
The 40-year-old was missing for several days, causing his family worry.
