Fire destroys Lafayette home

Posted: Updated:
LAFAYETTE, GA (WRCB) -

A family of four is without a home after a massive blaze destroyed their Lafayette residence.

Today, all that remains are charred piles of where the home stood.

No one was there at the time fire broke out on South Oakland Drive.

Neighbors say they awoke to see flames shooting from the home, and while the house is a total loss, they say it could have been a lot worse.

"At least they're okay; the kids are okay; nobody was in the home; furniture can be rebuilt and replaced."

The Red Cross is assisting the family -- no word yet on the cause of this fire.
