Two baby fawns were recently born at Rock City's Deer Park.
The babies, one male and one female, were born from two different mothers. They were named Hansel and Gretel after suggestions from Rock City Facebook friends.
The deer park at Rock City now has four bucks and six does living in the natural habitat.
"We are so pleased that our new fallow deer habitat has created the perfect environment for the deer to produce offspring," said Jeff Raabe, director of operations for Rock City Gardens. "When we went in to check on what we thought was the one new fawn, we got a big surprise…there were actually two! This has been great confirmation that we have been successful in the creation of a well-balanced habitat for the deer herd. Both of the fawns are doing great!"
Rock City continues to cultivate its environmental stewardship with partnerships like Amicalola Deer Park. Serving the needs of 150 rescued animals, primarily Sika and Fallow Deer, Amicalola Deer Park is a place of retreat, restoration, recreation, preservation and conservation.
