Rain and storms through Thursday

Posted: Updated:

Good Wednesday.  Rivers and streams are falling below flood stage, and just in time.  More showers and storms are on the way today and tomorrow.  It will not be the kind of deluge, however, we saw over the 4th of July holiday.

A front pushing through the area will spark widespread showers and storms late this afternoon.  I don't expect any severe weather, though brief heavy rain, lightning, and gusty winds will all be possible with any storms that develop.  Highs today will reach the upper 80s with lots of humidity to fuel the storms.

1" to 2" of rain is likely through tomorrow.

Look for the same type of pattern tomorrow, than drier air will move in behind the front.  Friday will be an exceptional day.  We will be a bit cooler with highs in the mid 80s, and the air will be a little drier also.  Dew points today are in the low 70s (VERY muggy air).  Friday they will be in the mid 60s.

Some moisture will begin to return over the weekend, though the rain chance will be very low Saturday.  We may see a few isolated storms Sunday afternoon.  Temps over the weekend will stay in the mid 80s.

We are closely watching the track of Tropical Storm Chantal.  With the current track, it would bring quite a bit of rainfall to the area Monday and Tuesday of next week.  Stay tuned on that one.
