Simms Named as Official ABA Clothing Sponsor

Posted: Updated:

ATHENS, Ala. July 08, 2013 – A major force in tournament bass fishing and a top fishing apparel company joined forces today when Simms Fishing Products, makers of the highest quality fishing clothes and products available, became the official clothing sponsor of American Bass Anglers, announced ABA officials.

"Simms Fishing Products is proud to be the official apparel sponsor of all American Bass Anglers tournament trails," said Rich Hohne, SIMMS digital marketing and public relations manager. "We are sure the relationship will open up the SIMMS name to legions of passionate anglers who are the inspiration for the gear we make."

American Bass Anglers annually conducts up to a thousand low cost, close to home bass tournaments for weekend anglers all across the United States. The SIMMS sponsorship includes the Bass Weekend Series, the American Fishing Tour, the American Couples Series and the annual Military Team Bass Tournament.

"We are thrilled to have SIMMS as a partner and our members will benefit greatly from their clothing that provides the right protection when they are outdoors," said Morris Sheehan, president of American Bass Anglers. "SIMMS attention to quality, detail and products that the angler needs makes them a perfect partner for American Bass Anglers."

Founded in 1980, by John Simms, a well-known Jackson, Wyo. fishing guide, Simms Fishing Products builds various items that protect anglers from the elements in any condition. In 1993, SIMMS introduced breathable waders in a pioneering effort with W. L. Gore & Associates, Inc., makers of GORE-TEX materials. This cooperation revolutionized the waders industry and opened up new possibilities for the sport. Today, SIMMS, the preeminent manufacturer of waders, outerwear and technical fishing apparel and accessories, operates a 60,000-square-foot facility in Bozeman, Mont., the only manufacturing facility making waders in the United States.

"Protection of the elements is extremely important for anglers who venture into those elements every weekend," Hohne explained. "Although SIMMS has grown and evolved over the years, the vision remains the same: to build the highest quality products to keep our customers dry, comfortable and protected from the elements in any condition. Whether for keeping anglers dry while wading a stream or providing sun protection, SIMMS has the right products for any angler. We work with the very best material suppliers in the world in our commitment to make high performance, technical clothing and outerwear for outdoors enthusiasts."

Sportsmen can see the full line of SIMMS gear at specialty and major retailers across North America or on line at www.simmsfishing.com. For more information, call ABA at 256-232-0406. On line, see www.americanbassanglers.com.
