DALTON, Ga. (WRCB) -- The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga will have a chance to win back-to-back USGA national championships next month even if Steven Fox does not try to defend his title at the U.S. Amateur.

UTC rising senior Jordan Britt earned a spot in the upcoming U.S. Woman's Amateur field through a sectional qualifier Monday.

The former Signal Mountain and GPS star shot a 73 at Dalton Golf and Country Club to secure her spot in next month's championship.

Britt, who two weeks ago advanced to the semifinals of match play at the Tennessee Women's Amateur, will now travel to Charleston, South Carolina, to play for the national championship at the Country Club of Charleston from August 5-11.

Fox, who just finished his career at UTC in the spring, won the USGA amateur title on the men's side last August at Cherry Hills in Colorado.

Next week he'll tee it up at the British Open, one of the many perks he's enjoyed as a result of the championship. The Hendersonville native also earned exemptions into the Masters, the U.S. Open and a select PGA Tour events.
