Flooding rains through the weekend

Posted: Updated:

Good Thursday, and happy 4th of July!!  The wet weather continues through the weekend at least.

We have 2 elements that will stay in place for the next few days that will keep the raindrops falling on our heads.

The first is a deep flow of moist tropical air coming up from the south.  The second is a jet stream, or a river of air in the upper levels.  With the jet stream in place, that will cause air to rise underneath, and that rising air (with all the tropical moisture in it) will condense into the rains that we are seeing now.

With now change in the pattern, expect the on and off rains with periods of heavy rain to last through the weekend, and maybe into the first part of next week.

Highs through the weekend will stay in the upper 70s and low 80s, warming to the low 90s as we temporarily dry out for a day or two in the middle of next week.

Some models are showing, however, more rain headed our way toward the end of next week.
