East Ridge Police investigates suspected murder-suicide

Posted: Updated:

East Ridge Police are investigating a reported murder-suicide on Wimberly Lane.

Police reported family grew concerned when Susan Ingram didn't show up for work Tuesday.

Family members went to her house on the 3600 block of Wimberly Lane and forced their way in. They found Ingram on the bed with a gunshot wound to the head. They also found her husband, James Ingram, also with a gunshot wound to the head.

That's when police were called. They set up a perimeter and searched the home. They found James had a gun in his hand, and the gun had two used cartridges.

East Ridge detectives, along with an investigator with the Hamilton County Medical

Examiners' office, had the bodies sent to the medical examiners' office on Amnicola
Highway. Preliminary examinations have been performed and officers are awaiting a
final report.

Early indications are that James Ingram shot his wife prior to shooting himself.
