A Chattanooga man faces attempted murder charges after police say he tried to run over an officer.

Police say around 1:30 a.m. Saturday, Officer Nathan Rogers shot at a suspect who tried to run him over in the 100 block of Elmwood Driver.

The officer struck the suspect, Lebron Brown, in the arm, but Brown fled the scene in the vehicle.

He arrived at a local hospital for treatment and was arrested and charged with attempted murder and aggravated assault.

Officer Rogers was not injured during the incident and has been placed on administrative leave with pay pending standard internal investigation.

The incident is still under investigation by the Internal Affairs and Major Crimes Divisions.  More information will be released when available
