DALTON, GA (WRCB) -

The Dalton Fire Department held a public ceremony Monday to launch it's new fire truck into service.

The new tower is a 2013 model with a 100-foot aerial apparatus.
The truck costs 1.1 million dollars and will be financed over the next five years.
The old tower, a 1987 model was also retired from service.
It'll be kept by the Dalton Fire Department as a reserve apparatus.

The new fire truck comes equipped with several new safety features, including alarms to help prevent human error.

The truck is capable of pumping two thousand gallons of water minute, that's 500 gallons more than the model they were previously using.
