UPDATE: Marion Co. homicide suspects arrested

Posted: Updated:
MARION COUNTY, TN (WRCB) -

UPDATE: 4:00 p.m.

The Marion County Sheriff's Department has confirmed that the suspects wanted in connection with a homicide over the weekend have been arrested in Pierce County, Georgia without incident Wednesday morning around 10.

Sheriff Bo Burnett tells Channel 3, the arrests of 33-year-old Oscar Delgado and 31-year-old Christina McLendon came as a result of a tip given to authorities in Pierce County.

The suspects were wanted in connection with the murder of 31-year-old Jeffrey Mora of Utah.

Mora's body was found Saturday at the foot of Raccoon Mountain, along Highway 41.

The sheriff's office says the death could be linked to an argument over a vehicle.

Previous story:

You can see the markings on the road where investigators found the body of 31-year-old Jeffrey Mora Saturday morning.

It was on Highway 41 in Marion County at the foot of Raccoon Mountain where police say the Utah native was lying in the pool of blood outside an abandoned building.

What puzzles investigators is why he was in Tennessee.

"We think he has some friends here in this area, and they may have brought him here to Chattanooga area. I don't know the timeline on how long her has been here but a least six months. I'm still not sure," Sheriff Bo Burnett says.

The sheriff says Mora's death centers around an argument over a vehicle, but he wouldn't go into details.

The building where he was found used to be a bait and tackle shop and an animal rescue facility.

The concrete has dry blood stains in several areas but by the fence is where investigators say he collapsed.

We checked with Hurricane City Police and Washington County detectives in Utah to learn more about the victim, and he is no stranger to police.

Has been arrested 20 separate times since 2004 for a number incidents including domestic violence and weapons charges.

When he was found over the weekend, the sheriffs says the body was badly beaten, cut, and had been run over with a car.

So far no arrests have been made, but the Marion County sheriff's office has questioned potential suspects.
