In just a couple hours someone will be handed the keys to the 2013 St. Jude Dream Home live on Channel 3.
St. Jude's Children Research Hospital in Memphis doesn't bill its nearly 8,000 patients a year, so it relies on fundraisers like Sunday's Dream Home Giveaway to bring in the millions of dollars it takes to treat patients and continue life-saving research.
Linda Eiland toured the newly-built St. Jude Dream Home on Hawks Creek Drive in Apison with her daughter Saturday morning.
"We saw it on the news this morning so we thought lets see it and so we came out and its just absolutely gorgeous," says Eiland.
The ticket price for a chance to win the home benefits the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
"I've got lots of friends who've had children that have gone through St. Jude's, its amazing," Eiland says.
"What they did for Cody, they gave him four years that he might not have had if we wouldn't have been there," Greg Heard says.
Greg and Kelly Heard's son, Cody, was two years old when doctors diagnosed him with Neuroblastoma. He spent the next four years fighting for his life at St. Jude's. As they share the memory of their son, they also share their story of hope.
"We want every family that has to go through it to have what we had when we were there," Heard says.
The winner of this year's Dream Home Giveaway will be announced Sunday during a live broadcast on Channel 3 between noon and 2 p.m.
Nearly 7,000 tickets were sold and about another hundred will be sold last-minute before Sunday's drawing. The number to call is 1-800-750-6962 beginning at noon.
