Warm, humid, storm chances: summer's here!

Posted: Updated:
CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) -

The summer reruns are about to start with shower and storm chances almost daily.

A summer-like weather pattern settles into the Tennessee Valley for a while. And why not, as summer officially begins on the calendar at 1:04 a.m. Friday. Continual Gulf of Mexico moisture plus afternoon heat will equal varying chances for pop-up showers and storms just about every day for at least the next week. These showers and storms will not be around all day and most won't even develop in the morning hours. They'll generally begin in the afternoon and fade through the evening. It's nearly impossible to determine where the showers and storms will pop-up, so just keep an umbrella handy and/or be prepared to dash inside.  It's a roll of the dice.

High temperatures for the next week will be seasonably hot in the upper 80s to lower 90s. Overnight lows will range from the middle 60s to lower 70s. Humidity will be high but not suffocating. Still, please take precautions if you plan to be outdoors or have to work outdoors. Drink plenty of water, apply sunscreen, and wear light-colored, loose-fitting clothes.
