CeeLo apologizes and asks Chattanooga for forgiveness VIDEO
CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) - CeeLo Green is breaking his silence about his controversial performance at Riverbend. The entertainment website TMZ.com is showing a video where CeeLo Green asks for forgiveness from Chattanooga for cursing.
In the video he says, "Forgive me, Chattanooga" after being asked about the controversy. The singer used profanity on stage, drank alcohol on stage, and was 45 minutes late to start.
"I meant no harm and, of course, we're out to have some big fun, it's like a big barbecue," he said on the video.
CeeLo, who has roots in Atlanta, claimed Chattanoogans are like his neighbors and he enjoys being in the city.
Riverbend officials said they were disappointed in his behavior and thought he would keep the show clean at a family festival.
In the TMZ video, CeeLo said the setup made it difficult to get to the stage. The Riverbend stage is a barge on the Tennessee River and artists have to arrive by boat. He apologized for the late start to his show, saying he was only about "15 or 20 minutes" late.
