Community hosts benefit for firefighter with brain tumor

Posted: Updated:
WHITFIELD COUNTY, GA (WRCB) -

A community is banding together to support a Whitfield County firefighter battling a brain tumor.

Residents in Whitfield County hosted a carnival to help support Dennis Green, who is currently in Chicago having surgery on a malignant brain tumor.

His family as well as the Whitfield County Fire Department hosted a benefit to raise funds and awareness for Green.

The benefit was at the City of Varnell Gym until 4 p.m. It featured games, food, face painting, and the main event: a dunk tank. Attendees could pay $1 to dunk the police chief and city firefighters. All proceeds go to Green and his recovery.

If anyone would like to mail donations, cards or any words of encouragement, they may mail them
