2 highways closed in Rutherford County after storm

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (AP) - Portions of 2 highways are temporarily closed in Rutherford County after a storm toppled trees on Monday.

According to the sheriff's office, no injuries have been reported, but trees were uprooted onto homes and vehicles in the western and southeastern sections of the county.

The storm left trees and live power lines blocking U.S. 41 near Joe B. Jackson Road and state Route 96. Both highways are temporarily closed while emergency workers clean up the mess. Other closed roads include Elam Road, Creekside and Epps Mill Road.

People who don't have to travel are asked to stay home so that crews can clean up the area as quickly as possible.

Anyone whose property sustained damage is asked to call the sheriff's office at (615) 898-7770.
