Girl organizes bone marrow drive for professor

Posted: Updated:

A Hamilton County high school girl organized a bone marrow drive for a University of Stanford professor Sunday.

Anjali Chandra, a 10th grader from Girls Preparatory School, put together this event for Dr. Nalini Ambady, who is battling leukemia.

Chandra says after reading about the professor's story she wanted to get involved and help.
She says Sunday's event shows the generous people of the Scenic City.

"This registry can help anyone who has a blood disorder, and it can potentially save a life."

The family says Dr. Ambady is most likely compatible with someone of South Asian decent, and because of that she has a one in 20,000 chance of finding a donor.
