A long-time Chattanooga firefighter has been chosen to lead the department.

Mayor Andy Berke named Lamar Flint as fire chief Friday morning.

Flint has more than 25 years of experience with the Chattanooga Fire Department.

For the past 12 years he has served as deputy chief.

Flint is also a board member for the Brainerd Youth Association and the River City Youth Football League.

He replaces Randy Parker, who has served as chief since 2009.
