CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) -

The local Red Cross continues to help the almost 200 Patten Towers residents displaced by fire.

Greg Waite says the agency is now helping the residents, by providing a bus pass to help with transportation.

"We continued to hear that transportation was a huge issue for these residents, getting to partner agencies to access other services available, to doctor's appointments, the pharmacy and even to work," says Greg Waite, Community Chapter Executive, American Red Cross of Southeast Tennessee.

"We will provide a bus pass to any of the verified Patten Towers residents that are currently living in PK Management provided hotels and need help with transportation over the next 30 days."

Waite says volunteers will distribute the passes over the weekend to the 11 hotels PK Management provided as temporary housing.

Plans are still being finalized.

Waite says more information will be released, when it becomes available.

Hold on. The heat and humidity are going to continue through the weekend. Today, look for a high of 95 and a heat index near 100. We won't see the same coverage of storms that we saw last night, but with this much heat and humidity in place you never want to completely rule out one or two storms breaking through.More
