A well-being check Tuesday morning by Chattanooga police on Autumn Lane in Chattanooga prompted police to take a pro-active stance when the door knocks went unanswered.

When officers arrived, they determined that there were people inside the home, but no one answered the door. Police were checking on an adult female who had allegedly been assaulted by 44 year-old Timothy Neal.

Due to Neal's prior criminal history, officers decided to surround the house, and called the SWAT Team and Hostage Negotiation Team.

About 1:00 p.m., Neal came to the door and was taken into custody without incident. The female was located inside the residence with minor injuries.

Neal has been charged with domestic violence-simple assault and possession of drug paraphernalia.
