CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) -- Chattanooga lost its biggest name over the weekend, but is bringing in another to fill the void at AT&T Field.
At least for one night.
Atlanta Braves pitcher Brandon Beachy is scheduled to start for the Mississippi Braves in Monday night's game against the Lookouts. The right-hander is nearing the end of a minor-league rehab stint following Tommy John surgery last June.
Beachy was 5-5 with an impressive ERA of 2.00 when he hurt his elbow and had surgery last summer. He is only scheduled to make two more minor league starts after Monday before rejoining the major league club on June 18.
Beachy has made one start each at Rome (Single-A) and Gwinnett (Triple-A) over the past two weeks, giving up two runs on five hits in nine innings.
Unfortunately he will not face hot-hitting Lookouts outfielder Yasiel Puig. The Dodgers' top overall prospect was called up Sunday and will make his Major League Debut in Monday night's series-opener against San Diego at 10:10 p.m. ET.
Beachy's start in Chattanooga is slated for a 7:15 p.m. ET start. The M-Braves took the opener of the five-game series 4-2 Sunday night.
