A man died after being hit by at least two vehicles Saturday night on Interstate 40 near downtown Nashville.
The collision happened just before 11 p.m. near the I-65 interchange south of the downtown area.
Metro police say the 26-year-old man, a homeless pedestrian, was in a traffic lane when he was hit. He died at the scene.
Investigators said it appears the death may have been an act of suicide.
The man was from Portland, Oregon, and had apparently made suicidal statements, according to witnesses.
Efforts are underway to notify the man's family, police said.
