Pitching machines recovered, man charged with theft

EAST RIDGE, TN (WRCB) - Two pitching machines, stolen from a local recreation facility, have been located at a pawn shop. Police say they know who took them.

East Ridge Police charged 31-year-old Christopher Meyer with multiple theft charges.

Detectives were investigating Meyer in connection to a theft of a tiller in East Ridge, when they say he was involved in the pawning of two stolen pitching machines.

The machines were stolen earlier this month from the McBrien School, which is used by the East Ridge Recreation Department for pitching practice.

Fort Oglethorpe Police stopped and arrested Meyer on traffic related charges Wednesday. While he was in custody, officers say he admitted to stealing the tiller and pitching machines.

East Ridge Police were in the process of recovering the stolen tiller when other stolen tools and lawn care equipment were found. Police say those were taken during a third burglary.

The stolen pitching machines are on hold at a local pawn shop and will be returned to the East Ridge Recreation Department.

Charges are pending against Meyer for the three thefts. He is scheduled to appear in East Ridge City Court on June 4.
