Crime Stoppers: Thieves get $10,000 with stolen debit card

Posted: Updated:

In Crime Stoppers, a theft at a Signal Mountain retirement home has robbed an elderly person of thousands of dollars.

It started with the suspects taking a wallet from someone at Alexian Village. The victim's debit card has been used at several ATMs in Hixson and Soddy Daisy.

Police believe two people, a man and woman, are behind this crime. They hope that you can help stop them.

Investigators say the woman has done a good job of not being seen on camera, but there are surveillance pictures of her suspected accomplice withdrawing money from an ATM.

The pair has been seen driving a white SUV, which police think could be a Jeep Cherokee.

They've managed to steal more than $10,000 from the victim.

Police need your help to get these suspects off the streets.

"They're taking an elderly person's livelihood," says Sgt. Daniel Jones. "You know? It may be their only savings that they have and they may be relying on other things to be at the retirement home. Unfortunately, these folks think that they can steal from an elderly person and that's, obviously, someone that we need to catch."

If you recognize the suspects or their vehicle, or if you've overheard someone talking about this crime, police could use your help.

You could earn yourself up to $1,000 in reward cash.

Call Crime Stoppers 698-3333. An officer may answer the phone, but no one ever has to know it was you who called.
