Temporary budget keeps Chattanooga from shutting down

Posted: Updated:

CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) - This move shouldn't affect anyone and that's why council members say they're glad it's happening.

We recently saw a big shake-up in Council and in the administration and Council members we talked to  say this temporary budget will help ensure a smooth transition.

Tuesday night City Council unanimously voted to adopt a temporary budget, from July to September. Chattanooga's new mayor Andy Berke and his administration need more time to work out their budget. Council members we talked to say it's all about figuring out priorities. They said their proposals are generally inline with the mayor's. They just need to decide what to tackle first.

The Berke administration is expected to have a full budget proposal ready by July 31st. That will replace the interim budget as soon as council approves it.
