Two similar shootings land two in hospital

CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) -

Two people are in the hospital after two shootings in Chattanooga late Monday.

Police say they found 21-year-old Ashton Ammonds around 11:30 p.m. in the 2200 block of Bennett Avenue. He had a gunshot wound in the leg.

Shortly after, they found 19-year-old Shannon Cooley in the 2200 block of East 27th Street Court with a gunshot wound in the leg. Investigators say the shooting took place in the 2700 block of 5th Avenue.

In both cases, police reported the victims were standing outside when a person shot them and then fled the scene.

It is unclear at this time if the shooting are related.

Both victims were taken to the hospital with non life threatening injuries.
