CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) -

Mayor Andy Berke is seeking feedback from the residents of Lincoln Park in response to the Central Avenue extensions.

"I want to say loud and clear to the residents of Lincoln Park and surrounding neighborhoods – we will make you a part of any process that affects your neighborhood," said Mayor Berke. "We want and need your input. There are various options before us and now that I have taken office, I will make sure your voice is heard."

Tuesday, Berke's office will add a requirement to the funding resolution of the Central Avenue Extension. The addition will require the City of Chattanooga to participate in civic engagement with the residents of Lincoln Park and other concerned citizens.

They must also report back to the Transportation Planning Organization board, TPO, the results.
The plans include potential area improvements, such as bike paths and pedestrian-friendly sidewalks.

Construction will begin no earlier than 2016.

Tuesday's TPO board will vote on Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP) federal funding for this project, as well as numerous other local priorities.
