LAFAYETTE, GA (WRCB) -

A North Georgia mom is questioning the way a school resource officer broke up a fight between her daughter and another girl.

A Youtube video between two teenage students that attend Lafayette High School has sparked a lot of controversy.

This drag out hair pulling fight went viral Friday after heated words were exchanged the day before between the two girls, combined with several nasty posts displayed on Twitter and Facebook.

The grand finale played out Thursday outside on the school property courtyard. It's what happens towards the end of the fight that has parents heated.

According to the Lafayette chief of police - these girls were given plenty of warning before the on duty officer made the decision to use a stun gun.

"My response to the situation is that he was doing what he was trained to do," says Chief Benji Clift.

"He said break it up but the time he said stop.  He shot her with a taser.  He said it twice? But they had not time respond," says Marti Oliver, mother of one of the girls.

Charges have not be filed yet but there could be serious repercussions that follow this fight.

One of the girls is just 17; her mother says that the arresting officer told her she may be charged as an adult
