White House rallies past Notre Dame
Austin Thomas scored the game-winner in the 55th minute to lift White House to a 2-1 win over Notre Dame in the quarterfinals of the Class A/AA boys state soccer tournament Tuesday night at Spring Fling.

Baggio Card, whose golden goal in Saturday's sectional against East Ridge clinched Notre Dame's ticket to Spring Fling, scored 15 minutes into the contest to give the Irish a 1-0 lead.

But Luis Vital tallied the equalized with less than five minutes to play in the first half, then assisted on Thomas' second-half goal to spark the White House rally.

With the loss, the Irish end the season at 9-9-2 overall.

CPA ends East Hamilton's season in state quarterfinals
J.R. Osborn scored a pair of goals to help Christ Presbyterian avenge a regular season loss to East Hamilton with a 3-1 win over the Hurricanes in the quarterfinals of the Class A/AA boys state soccer tournament Tuesday night at Spring Fling.

The Lions, who lost to East Hamilton 3-1 during the regular season, scored a pair of first-half goals to win the match that mattered.

Harrison Myers' goal put CPA on the board at the 19:12 mark and snapped a streak of 12 straight shutouts for East Hamilton. Osborn made it a 2-0 advantage with less than five minutes to play before the half.

The Hurricanes cut the deficit in half at the 19:23 mark of the second half when Jose Orellana cleaned up a rebound, but Osborn made a great run through two defenders and beat keeper Fielder Dennis one-one-one to provide the final margin with just over two minutes to play.

East Hamilton, who advanced to the state semifinals last season, ends the year with a 19-2-2 mark.

Local girls tennis teams dominate, local boys teams eliminated
The Chattanooga area is guaranteed at least one state championship on the girls' side and is guaranteed to be shut out on the boys' side in the TSSAA state tennis tournaments at Spring Fling.

Chattanooga Christian, Girls Preparatory School and Baylor all won their state semifinal matches in girls' action Tuesday afternoon to earn a shot at state title.

CCS topped CAK 4-2 in the Class A/AA bracket and will face Columbia Academy in Wednesday's final. Columbia Academy beat Union City 4-3 in the other semifinal.

GPS and Baylor will meet once again for the Division II-AA state title after sweeping through the semis. The Bruisers beat Hutchison 4-0 while the Lady Raiders shut out Harpeth Hall by the same score.

Baylor beat GPS 6-1 just two weeks ago to clinch a region championship.

On the boys' side, Notre Dame was eliminated from the Class A/AA tournament with a 4-2 loss to CAK in the state semifinals.

McCallie and Baylor were also ousted in the Division II-AA semis. The Blue Tornado lost to MUS, 4-0, while Baylor ended the season with a 4-1 decision to MBA.
