A Chinese automotive web site is reporting that Volkswagen is planning to produce the CrossBlue and CrossBlue Coupe in China, and production of the two models is expected to begin in a couple of years.

INAUTONEWS says production on both CrossBlue vehicles, the CrossBlue SUV and CrossBlue Coupe are expected to begin in 2015

According to Chinese automotive media, the Volkswagen CrossBlue and Volkswagen CrossBlue concepts will be put into production in the near future and the two models will probably be assembled in China.

Production is expected to start in 2015 at a new factory in Changsha, Hunan Province, where a total of 300,000 units will be made annually. At the same plant, a new sedan, codenamed VW511, will be produced too. This vehicle will fill the slot between the Passat and the Phaeton.

Differing reports have also stated that the vehicles may be produced in Chattanooga. It is possible that the vehicles could be produced in several locations.

The Volkswagen CrossBlue concept SUV, a seven seater, made its North American debut at the Detroit Auto Show in early 2013, offering a hybrid version with stated fuel economy expected to be 89 MPGe, with the 'e' being a relatively new EPA standard for hybrid vehicles with a full battery charge and combined highway and city cycles.

The VW CrossBlue Coupe was unveiled at the Shanghai Motor Show in early May. Smaller and sportier, the Coupe is also expected to have a hybrid engine option and seat five.
