Washed out roads throughout N. GA

Posted: Updated:
NORTH GEORGIA (WRCB) -

Washed out roads and flooded driveways were very common throughout north Georgia.

Michael Ashworth is on the Walker and Chattooga County line. Rain was so bad in his area half of his driveway sunk into a ditch.

"The water was coming through; then it went across the road way and washed that ditch out. We have had hard rains before and it loosened that dirt up some."

Miles away Chattooga road crews worked to repair a culvert that started to give way during the storms.

We are told a rescued worker was sucked through it trying to help residents escape Sunday night. Luckily, he wasn't hurt.

In Catoosa County state road crews worked to repair a dam that partially collapsed in the downpour.

Ashworth says "Pretty bad weekend with a lot of lightening around here."
