Chattanooga Girls Leadership Academy sees first graduation since founding

CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) -

The Chattanooga Girls Leadership Academy has reached a historic milestone.

Friday was the school's first graduation ceremony since it was founded in 2009.

CGLA serves girls in grades six through 12 and is the first single gender public charter school in the state.

Thirteen students received their diplomas Friday, a very proud moment for the school.

"These girls have been on a journey together, all because of a dream that two women in our community had," says Director of Development Jennifer Hoff.

All 13 graduates are college bound.

CGLA is the first approved public charter school in Hamilton County.
