Ga. man arrested in dispute over unkempt lawn

CARTERSVILLE, Ga. (AP) - A man accused of lighting his neighbor's house on fire over complaints of an unkempt yard has been arrested.

Police say Phillip Bennett, of Cartersville, complained about a neighbor's grass being too high and volunteered to cut it for him before a confrontation Wednesday devolved into a verbal dispute.

Authorities say Bennett is accused of lighting his neighbor's house on fire while he and his 3-yerar-old daughter were inside. No one was injured.

Officials said Bennett surrendered to U.S. Marshals Thursday in Murphy, N.C. - about 90 miles northeast of Cartersville.

Cartersville police Capt. Mark Camp says Bennett is charged with arson, aggravated assault, criminal property damage, cruelty to children, burglary, reckless conduct, criminal trespassing and terroristic threats.

It's unclear if he has an attorney.
