On Friday, June 7, Jake Owen will headline at the Riverbend Festival.

He will perform at 9:30 p.m. on the Coke Stage.

Jake Owen is an American country music singer from Vero Beach, FL. He attended Florida State, where he played on the golf team. His dreams of becoming a professional golfer were cut short when he suffered a severe shoulder injury while wake boarding.

While healing from his injury, Owen realized he could still hold a guitar, so he learned to play and began to write music. From then on, music became Owen's primary focus.

He moved to Nashville with the hopes of beginning a music career, and his hopes were fulfilled. He signed a deal with RCA Records. His debut album, "Startin' With Me," was released in July 2006. The album created three singles— "Yee Haw," "Startin' with Me," and "Something About a Woman"—all of which made the Top 20 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart.

His second album, "Easy Does It," was released in 2009. It produced three more singles: "Don't Think I Can't Love You," "Eight Second Ride," and "Tell Me."

In September 2011, Owen achieved his first number one on the country charts with the title track to his third album, "Barefoot Blue Jean Night."

He has toured with and opened up for several country stars including Kenny Chesney, Brad Paisley, and Keith Urban.
