Could it be? Ringgold couple claims to have the original formula for Coke
(WRCB) -– A Ringgold man and his wife believe they've found the recipe for Coke.
Cliff Kluge, who is a pilot, and his wife, Arlene, both spend their spare time going to estate and garage sales, where they ironically met seven years ago.
Kluge tells Channel 3 his wife bought a stack of paperwork at a sale and has spent the past two-to-three years sifting through it all.
Recently, they discovered a folded up letter, which was dated January 15th, 1943. The document appears to have the recipe, or formula for Coca-Cola typed on it.
Several "clues" in the document make Kluge believe he has the real thing. The formula bears a strong resemblance to the formula uncovered by the public radio show "This American Life" in a 2011 episode.
Kluge says they've been doing research and are confident it is the original recipe for the world's most popular soft drink.
The Kluge's have put the recipe on eBay, where the starting bid is listed at $5 million dollars. If you're living large, you can opt for eBay's "Buy It Now" option and own the document for $15,000,000.
Interestingly enough, there are no bids on the document.
