CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) -- TWH Architects of Chattanooga is currently designing the new East Brainerd Elementary School, to be built on the site of the original David Brainerd School property.  In recent years, the current East Brainerd school, built in 1926, has housed students in grades K-3, while 4th and 5th graders have attended class in the current David Brainerd campus.

Company President Vance Travis told Eyewitness News, "We hope to start construction before the fall. The new school will have a new traffic circle and there will be an extension of Goodwin Road."  The school is scheduled to open in August 2015.

Hamilton County Schools are preparing two new schools to open this August:  Red Bank Middle School, located on the Red Bank High campus, and Ooltewah Elementary School, near Ooltewah High.  The new Ooltewah Elementary will be the largest elementary school in the county, and will replace the current school on Lee Highway near I-75 exit 11.
