Eric Posey was 39-years-old when his life was taken during a tragic logging accident.
He left behind a wife and two children. While life hasn't been easy, his daughter says she's always looked to her mother for support.
Erica Posey is a sophomore in high school, but she's wise beyond her years. You could say she gets it from her mom.
"I don't just see my mom, I see my best friend but most importantly I see the person I want to be one day," says Erica.
These women have been through a lot. In September, 2010, Erica's dad, Eric, was killed as he worked on a logging machine in Sequatchie County.
Erica was just 14 years old, her brother Even, 3.
"Losing my dad was really hard and it wasn't that, I didn't know if we were ever going to fully recover from."
She relied on her mother Lynn for strength.
"No matter when I needed her she was always there through it."
But Lynn admits sometimes finding the strength to move on was difficult.
"I have to do this, I have to be there for them, I have to be mom and dad, that's what he would want."
"He said, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger."
On this Mother's Day, Erica says she's thankful to have a mother like Lynn and her unconditional love and support.
"No matter what we go through, as long as we're together we can get though anything."
"There's not a gift any better or any more fulfilling than wonderful children."
Their family may be missing one person, but there's love to go around.
"I miss him. It would be much better if he were here but they're here and I have him through them."
