Gordon Lee in state final four, East Ham wins tourney title

Gordon Lee pounded out a total of 21 hits across ten innings while completing an easy doubleheader sweep of Turner County on Wednesday en route to a spot in next week's state final four.

The Trojans blasted the visitors 10-0 and 12- 2 in a pair of five-inning, mercy-rule contests to advance to the semifinals of the Class A Public School bracket. Gordon Lee will host either Lincoln County or Truetlen in a doubleheader Monday to open a best-of-three series.

Six different Trojans recorded an RBI and five players collected at least two hits in the opener, Bryce Bailey and Branton Phillips drove in three runs apiece in the nightcap.

Gordon Lee had four innings of three or more runs, including a seven-run fifth inning that sealed the victory in game two.

Phillips gave up just one hit in five shutout innings to win game one, while Conrad Broom allowed just one earned run in four innings to win the second.

The Trojans have now out-scored opponents 51-4 in four playoff games.

East Hamilton 3, Central 2
HIXSON, Tenn. (WRCB) --
Hunter Smith shook off a rough start on the mound and Hunter Parker's second-inning single proved to be the difference as East Hamilton won the District 6-AA tourney title with a 3-2 win over top-seeded Central.

The Hurricanes clinch a spot in next week's region tourney with the win. The Pounders must now face Red Bank in an elimination game Thursday night for the district's other regional spot.

Red Bank stayed alive by beating Hixson 9-4 earlier Wednesday.

Central got off to a hot start with two runs on three first-inning singles against Smith. Colton Morgan and Ryan Poole each delivered run-scoring hits as the Pounders jumped out to a 2-0 lead.

It didn't last long, though, as Nick Auguer's two-run double pulled the Hurricanes back to even in the bottom half of the inning. Parker added the go-ahead single an inning later for what proved to be the final tally of the game.

Smith handcuffed the Pounders, allowing just two hits in six shutout innings the rest of the way. He finished with ten strikeouts and walked just two.

Colton Morgan suffered the loss for Central, striking out five while allowing three runs on six hits.
